Ready to revamp your cleaning supply cabinet? We are too. As someone who is eco-conscious in my own cleaning products, it took me a long time to try and find the best products without worrying about the long-term effects on my family and our living space.

First and foremost, I recommend downloading the Think Dirty app, which simplifies ingredient research. You simply scan the barcode on the products, and it explains the ingredients list in normal to understand translations, as well as their own ratings!

Ever Spring: This line at Target offers cleaning products 90% naturally derived or plant based, as well as naturally sourced fragrance (some products do have some synthetics, so be sure to read the list on the back). With ingredients like Citric Acid, which is naturally found in our food and water, kills mold, bacteria and generally disinfects surfaces, we know our surfaces are cleaned minimally and safely for our family.

Seventh Generation: This product line also provides plant-based products, with NO synthetic fragrances, making it suitable for sensitive skin! As a company for the last 30 years, their mission is to provide ecofriendly, sensitivity friendly and family friendly cleaning products for households with the next seven generations in mind. With the USDA Certified Biobased Product label on their packages, the products are certified to be “derived from plants and other renewable agricultural, marine, and forestry materials.”

Method: Method is a budget friendly cleaning product with the same message as it’s competitors, to help solve environmental issues with supporting the well being of the people who use their products. They are even committed to creating these products in ecofriendly factories, powered by a 230ft wind turbine to make electricity in their one and only factory in Chicago. Housing and creating the products in house, then then ship nationally to retails for consumers. These products do a great job of attacking grime on contact, without the harsh chemicals or odors.

Mrs. Meyers: Mrs. Meyers is probably a more commonly known throughout a lot of commercial retailers (or at least it was one of the first brands I think of when I think of green products!). Named after the owners mother, the brand wanted to create simple cleaning products with light essential oil based scents. Although best known for their hand soaps, Meyers offers a range of cleaning supplies like toilet bowl cleaner, tub and tile cleaners and all-purpose sprays. After personally testing the bathroom cleaners, it’s one of the only brands that doesn’t give me migraines after using!

The cleaning products needed for a healthy, green and eco-friendly home don’t have to be splurged! Do your own research, look into the ingredients and happy green cleaning to you and your family this year.
