Valentine’s Day is the time to celebrate with your loved one over food, wine and of course, endless amounts of chocolate. Although it’s romantic, it can leave an awful mess to clean up after the celebration. Here are our tips to clean up after the most popular accidents and spills:

  1. Candle spill

The best thing to do for a candle wax spills on carpeting is to let it dry. From there you can:

  • Apply a small amount of dry cleaning solvent or alcohol.
  • Use small amounts to prevent any possible damage. Do not use lighter fluid or any flammable.
  • Mix one teaspoonful of white neutral mild liquid detergent with a cup of lukewarm water.
  1. Chocolate Stains

Chocolate covered strawberries sounded like a better idea before they made a mess on the carpet. It’s best to remove by trying one of the following home remedies:

  • Mix one teaspoonful of white neutral mild liquid detergent with a cup of lukewarm water.
  • Mix one tablespoon of household ammonia with a half cup of water.
  • Mix one-third cup of white household vinegar with two-thirds cup of water.
  • Mix a solution of powered enzyme laundry detergent following label or box directions. Allow the solution to remain on the stain for the length of time recommended by the manufacturer.
  1. Makeup Stains

Although it’s fun to get dressed up for date night, it’s easy to accidentally smudge your makeup or spill it on your textiles or clothes. Although makeup may have different components and pigments, trying one of the following may be the best:
